It can be hard to remember to come back and check a blog for new posts, especially one that’s updated as irregularly as mine. I don’t have a mailing list, so the best way to stay up to date with my posts is to use RSS.

What’s RSS?

RSS is great, but a surprising number of people don’t know about it! Basically, it’s a system for automatically checking for updates from multiple websites. Websites that use RSS (like this blog) create an RSS feed, which is a file that lists posts on the site and updates whenever there’s a new post. To use it, you need an aggregator tool, called an RSS reader, that checks the feeds of all the sites you’re following. That way, instead of checking a bunch of blogs, you can just check your RSS reader to see new posts from all of them in the same place.

There are a lot of different RSS readers out there. The one I use is inoreader.

My feed

When you’re adding my site to your RSS reader, it may want the site URL, the RSS feed URL, or the Atom feed URL (Atom is the same idea as RSS, but a different format).
